Did you know to be healthy and feel vibrant, our fascia must be supple and hydrated? What is fascia? Fascia is connective tissue made up made up of tissue paper thin layers of fibrous collagenous protein. Each layer is divided by interstitium, which acts as a lubricant between the layers permitting the slipping and sliding action necessary for movement to occur. Fascia is what gives our body its shape. It slips and slides over every part of our body when it comes in contact with muscles, nerves, and bones. Large sheets of fascia help support our muscles and bones and act as stabilizers to maintain our balance. Some sheets start under our feet, wrap around our torso and finish in our hands. Others crisscross our torso, helping us maintain our shape as well as our balance.

When fascia becomes dehydrated from lack of movement, it congeals and makes us feel locked down and stiff.
