Essentrics: Movement
for a healthy,
pain-free body!

"If strengthening is the masculine side of fitness, stretching is the feminine; they are the alpha and omega of each other... One cannot exist without the other."

— Miranda Esmonde-White

About Essentrics

What is Essentrics?
Essentrics™ is a unique fitness program that rapidly changes the shape of your body through a dynamic and fluid combination of strengthening and stretching. Each workout is scientifically designed to work through the muscle chains, loosen joints, and rebalance the body while developing lean, strong and flexible muscles.

As well as changing the look of your body, Essentrics also addresses how you feel in your body. Essentrics' unique movements release body tension and help relieve the aches and pains that come with stiff joints and tight muscles. Each one-hour routine is accompanied by a diverse set of music, and that combined with the fluid movements, leave you feeling energized, positive and healthy after each workout.

With thousands of testimonials from the programs devotees of all ages and fitness levels, professional athletes, Olympians, doctors and physiotherapists, we are confident that Essentrics will target what you need, unlock what is tight, strengthen what is weak and tone what needs shaping.

How does it work?
Essentrics strengthens and stretches every muscle in the body eccentrically, rebalancing the muscular structure in continuous rotational movements. It incorporates various techniques including PNF and isotonic movement while systematically working every joint in the body. The basis of the workout is a dynamic combination of strength and flexibility exercises, designed to pull apart the joints by elongating the muscles and challenging them in the lengthened position. This full-body technique works through the muscle chains, liberating and empowering the muscles, relieving them from tension in the process. While the technique is original in itself, it has been influenced by several disciplines. Essentrics draws on the flowing movements of tai chi which create health and balance, the strengthening theories behind ballet, which create long, lean, flexible muscles, and the healing principles of physiotherapy which create a pain free body.

Who does Essentrics?
Essentrics is for every body! Essentrics is used to train Olympic athletes, professional athletes (Essentrics is used by the NHL Canadians), and dancers, but it is also used for injury rehab (ask your doctor first), pregnancy and post pregnancy fitness, golfers, swimmers, injury and arthritis prevention, toning, flexibility, strengthening, and more to help any body do more of what they love to do!

What equipment do I need?
Essentrics classes are non-impact, so are done bare foot. All you need is yoga mat and maybe a riser-if you have trouble sitting up straight.
